Antony Szmierek
Antony Szmierek comes from England - from Manchester.
You can hear that straight away. From the themes of the lyrics, the distinctive beats and, above all, the accent and the way he speaks, which immediately reminded me of Mike Skinner. ‘It's Too Late’, “Turn the Page” or “Blinded by the Lights” - all that comes back. But not in a 2000s guise, rather slower, rather reduced, but in the sound of 2025 with more layers and more influences and, above all, with more tempo.
It's a sound that fits just as well on the underground as it does on a bike or in a club. But live, it remains in the context of a band with four people on stage and a lot of verve and energy that jumps out at you.
First to be seen on a festival stage in our climes at Immergut. Excited? Me too. Because as the song of the same name from the recently released album ‘Service Station At The End Of The Universe’ announces several times: The best is yet to come.
