With the Immergut Festival in the beautiful town of Neustrelitz, immergutrocken e.V. has been opening the festival season for more than 20 years. Over 170 volunteer helpers from the association and its wider community contribute with dedication and passion in a wide range of roles to ensure everything runs smoothly during the Immergut weekend.
A catering team of more than 20 people does its very best backstage in our well-equipped field kitchen to make sure that all helpers, security staff, and artists are well fed and happy throughout the festival, serving around 250 to 400 portions per meal.
To strengthen our team of cooks, we are looking for new talent – or rather: passionate cooks with (ideally advanced) experience in guiding others, getting hands-on, experimenting, co-creating, and occasionally improvising, all within an exceptionally friendly team that places great value on a relaxed and collegial atmosphere. Ideally, you feel confident taking responsibility for an entire shift, delegating and distributing tasks, and onboarding other helpers. Of course, we will provide an introduction and guidance.
We are a volunteer-run association and organize the Immergut Festival entirely on a voluntary basis, without financial compensation.
In return, we offer full catering on all festival days, free drinks at the backstage bar, and—most importantly—lots of new friendships, room for your own ideas, and an Immergut filled with great concerts, readings, and swimming in the Mecklenburg Lake District.
When does the festival take place?
May 28–30, 2026
What can you expect?
Important: We are looking for someone who can take on a leadership role in the kitchen and who can also imagine supporting the Immergut Festival in the long term.
In addition to skills in cooking, frying, and plating a vegan-vegetarian menu, the role requires foresight and organizational talent, with a focus on workflows and the coordination of helpers in the kitchen. This ensures that all dishes are ready on time and in sufficient quantities for up to 400 hungry mouths.
A strong sense of responsibility and care is required for hygienic work practices, compliance with food safety and allergen regulations, cold chain management, food storage, and the keeping of retention samples for the health authorities.
In close cooperation between the kitchen and the buffet team, consumption is monitored and the ordering and restocking of supplies is organized.
We work in shifts of approximately 6 to 7 hours per festival day, naturally allowing room to accommodate preferences, favorite bands and people, and the occasional after-work drink.
What do we need from you?
For smooth operations, we rely on professionalism and people who are motivated and bring their accumulated experience to help ensure everything runs seamlessly on site. Certificates or a (completed) formal education in relevant fields are not important to us, as long as you feel confident—based on your know-how and skills—taking on responsibility within the team (ideally with a longer-term perspective).
