Hubertus Koch
With Hubertus Koch, we have a very special guest this year who, with his personal story and his unflinching view of the world, we can expect a very special reading at the 25th Immergut Festival. Hubertus Koch, also known as ‘Hubi’, is already known to many as a journalist and filmmaker - his political reports, interviews with musicians and his honest videos about his own addiction story have made him an incisive voice of the present. With his uncompromising approach to the truth, he manages to look behind the image in a media world that is often characterised by shells and facades. And this view is always honest, always direct and never embellished.
Hubi is visiting us this year with his first non-fiction book ‘Lost Boy’, which is about world-weariness, chaos, hustle culture, the difficulty of creating real connections and drugs. Perhaps everyone should think about not chasing after goals all the time? Maybe the world would be a better place if we didn't put ourselves and our society under this unspoken pressure? The well-known, raw honesty and political stance of the filmmaker can of course also be found in his first literary work.
If you liked Hubertus Koch's films, you won't want to miss the reading and the book. It is a thought-provoking experience that shakes things up and at the same time creates a space for honest and unembellished dialogue.
