RIP Magic
RIP Magic are one of those gems waiting to be discovered in the beautiful chaos of festival lineups.
RIP: The London-based band RIP Magic centered around sound designer Marco Pini and visual artist Felix Bayley-Higgins frees itself, and maybe us too, from the beloved corset of post-punk and tears it apart completely. Together with Beth Boswell-Knight and Pedro Takahashi, the quartet draws from elements of experimental electronica from the ’90s and 2000s, cold wave, and indie rock to create a sharp, forceful, jagged synth dance-punk sound paired with abstract visuals on stage. Multidimensional magic.
Magic: The band has generated plenty of buzz and hype in the musical underground despite releasing only a handful of songs so far, already landing features from Tyler, the Creator and support slots for LCD Soundsystem and Tame Impala. And now: Immergut Festival. Pearl meets pearl. Turning the grassy floor of the tent stage into the sticky dancefloor of your favorite club. Feel the zeitgeist, enjoy the music — dance to “5words”!
