La Sécurité
The beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic was almost six years ago now, and it’s not something we like to look back on. But for many musicians, that time finally created space to try out ideas and write new songs — including La Sécurité from Montreal.
In 2020, vocalist Éliane Viens-Synnott and bassist Félix Bélisle recorded demos for an art-punk project, drawing inspiration from riot grrrl punk, the electro-indie of LCD Soundsystem, and the feminist electro-punk of Le Tigre. In 2023, they released the album Stay Safe! as a five-piece band.
La Sécurité make catchy, playful art punk, with songs sung in both English and French. Their music is driving and full of energy. In their lyrics, inspired by the riot grrrl movement, they celebrate self-determination, friendship, and solidarity. We’re excited to welcome them from Canada to Neustrelitz at the end of May.
